Miami Dade Affordable Housing Foundation believes that all people should be able to live in safe, quality, affordable housing and recognizes its responsibility to transform lives by helping people to live the life they love in a place they call home.
Miami Dade Affordable Housing Foundation was founded with one mission in mind, to transform communities and help families obtain quality affordable housing.
The Foundation was created on January 26, 1999 by the Housing Finance Authority of Miami-Dade County. It is a 501(c)(3) entity and certified US HUD counseling agency with staff certified in NeighborWorks Full Cycle Lending. The Foundation is also a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI); a community Development Entity (CDE); and a Community Housing Development Organization (CHODO).
The Foundation actually began housing development in earnest during the past three years. To date, 40 homes have been constructed or rehabilitated returning them to the property tax rolls, generating mortgage lending, stabilizing neighborhoods and providing quality homeownership for families (mostly below 80% of the area median income).
MDAHFI is governed under the direction of board of directors comprised of dedicated community volunteer as well as two staff members.
The Foundation will develop a sustainable model of service, guidance, innovative financial alternatives, and quality affordable housing; particularly for specialty housing markets.
